The Zukunftspark Echzell is located at the edge of the town of Echzell, adjacent to the open cultural and agricultural landscape. This landscape is characterised by open fields with staggered rows of trees and by watercourse lines, accompanied by a typical wooded fringe.

The elements characteristic of the surrounding landscape form the spatial framework for the new Future Park: the Horloff and Flutbach watercourses connect the park with the open landscape. The partly dense and partly permeable wooded fringe accompanies the streams and forms the framework for the park. Embedded in this framework are open meadows and lawns with different atmospheres. The park can thus be experienced as a coherent open space and connects with the surrounding landscape. The park has three thematic focal points:

  • The woody border in the transition to the watercourse enables the experience of nature and water. The woody fringe is composed of different species of woody plants. Extensive areas are included to promote biodiversity. Natural areas accompany the wooded fringe in different widths and vegetation structures.
  • The western part of the park will be designed as an extensive landscape park, which will make it possible to experience the cultural and natural landscape typical of Upper Hesse. The existing fruit tree grove and extensive wildflower meadows will be integrated.

  • The eastern part of the park will be used as a sports park, providing a framework for various sports and leisure activities and accommodating the necessary car park and caravan parking area. The football pitch will be retained. New running tracks are playfully integrated into the park concept.

Two path loops are inserted into the two parts of the park as a path framework: The landscape loop and the sports loop. Adjacent to the paths are recreational areas. The sports loop is accompanied by various recreational facilities (skate park, bocce court and generations playground) as play islands. Environmental education stations can be added to the landscape loop to familiarise children and adults with the natural landscape of Upper Hessia.
