The district and landscape park on the site of Tegel airfield consists of three sub-areas: the future district park, a landscape corridor as a connecting element and the urban heath on the former airfield.

The district park connects Kurt-Schumacher-Platz with the former airfield. As an intensively used area, it takes over various recreational uses as well as urban ecological functions. Leisure, recreational and sports uses are easily accessible at the transitions to the quarters. The district park is also a component of the district's own rainwater management.

The district park and landscape area Tegeler Heide each have their own standards. Accordingly, the north-south oriented landscape corridor mediates between these different open spaces. For this purpose, it is to be deliberately developed in a more restrained manner.

The former airfield is characterized by an open meadow landscape with the existing vegetation. The division of the total area is created by restrained inserted crossings. They complement the remaining pathways from airport use.

In contrast to the uniformly formed space of the landscape corridor, the area of the former airfield is to be divided into fields of different sizes and uses. Along the edges of the city, small fields are planned. They will be used for leisure and sports activities. In contrast, larger field sections are located in the middle area.
