Blaubeuren‘s core area is made up of the Blautopf-Area, the monastery, the old town and the town extension - town areas each with its own order. Blautopf and the monastery are among the town‘s well-known landmarks and attract tourists and travellers in particular.
A new circular route, consisting of an old town axis and a meadow promenade, is intended to link the city areas more closely. It connects a sequence of squares and public buildings. As characteristic watercourses, the Blau, Ach and the karst spring of the Blautopf natural monument will each be emphasised by their own squares and thus become more prominent in the cityscape. Between the meadow promenade and the old town axis, additional crossings connect to the central traffic artery ‚Auf dem Graben‘.
The proposed arrangement accentuates the public spaces. This will make more varied and intensive use of the existing range of squares and riverside spaces. At the same time, the core of the city is brought closer to the main tourist route.
