The city of Königswinter is situated in a scenic location. The urban layout is oriented towards the banks of the Rhine via numerous cross-relationships. Accordingly, the riverside space occupies an important position in the urban structure.

The proposed structure emphasizes the elongated arc of the riverbank. At the same time, the wooded area underlining the arch is preserved and given a special setting.

The connections to the core city are continued to the shore. Thus, the rhythm of the Rhine alleys structures the riverbank arch. In the bank area, viewing balconies are planned as a conclusion. In this way, the banks of the Rhine and the old town will be more closely interlinked. Taking into account the different traffic requirements, the riverbank area is rezoned.

It is planned to divide the area into three parallel movement bands. These include the city ribbon, the green ribbon and the riverbank ribbon. The speed of movement on the water side will decrease steadily. At the same time, pedestrians will be given significantly higher priority in the future.
