The Urftauenpark accompanies the western side of the watercourse. The park is to be a continuous green space connecting the edge of the city and the watercourse.

A robust and open-use park is proposed, which encourages appropriation and at the same time thematizes the rough landscape of the Eifel. The most important motive for the order of the park is the meandering course of the Urft. The other park elements are subordinated to this basic theme. These includes a modelled bank area and a grove of trees that borders the edge of the city.

The modeling of the shore area brings the water surface of the Urft closer into focus. For this purpose, the park-side bank edge pivots several times and divides the river basin into different sections. The originally linear course of the Urft becomes much more alive. The redesign also improves the aquatic ecological quality of the Urft.
