The later park area is characterized by the course of the Goorley and the colliery wall which clings to the river. As opposed to this, the later colliery district pans out linearly and opens up to the adjoining park via orthogonally inserted incisions and joints. This contrast is to be taken up and emphasized design of pit park and open spaces.

The planned landscape construction enriches the park area with spaces and vistas. At the same time, the barrier effect of the green artificial hill is to be minimized as much as possible. For this purpose, the bulk body is divided into elongated layers. Its shape seizes the arc segments of the Goorley course. As a basic principle, the artificial character of the landscape construction shall remain legible.

On the other side of the neighbourhood and the district promenade, the slope rises slightly to invite to different uses. In contrary, the slope in the south-west frames the course of the Goorley.

Depending on the direction of approximation, the modelling emphasizes different perspectives and silhouettes. The artificial hill divides the park area into two sections: an open meadow corridor along the new district and a detailed stretch along the Goorley course.
