The Berlin Sportforum is currently used mainly by athletes. In the future, the area is also to open up more to the urban community. The upcoming redevelopment should also make an important contribution to climate resilience and innovative water management. To this end, the following design spatial settings are proposed:

  • Pathway framework: The site will be structured by a clear pathway framework. The development connects the adjacent urban areas and green spaces with each other. The centrally located ‚loop‘ serves as a central distributor.
  • Green Campus: The campus combines different offers for recreation, sports and games. It also supports the existing cold air guideway and connects to existing green spaces in the north and south.
  • Sports cluster: The pathway structure and green campus divide the area into four clusters, each with its own thematic focus. The clusters bundle existing and new sports facilities. The formation of focal points simplifies orientation on site and supports synergies.

  • Urban Wetlands: Together with the path structure, a coherent system of hollows is created on the site. This allows surface water to seep away on site. At the same time, the modeling structures the area and supports orientation.
