The Hansa Coking Plant is a concise testimony to the industrial culture with an independent architectural design. The green meadow to the north is closely interwoven with the coking plant area due to its development history. At the same time it forms a scenic counterpart to the coking plant. The design elements proposed for the Futuregardens are subordinated to this context.

As a new green centre, the Anger assumes a number of important functions: it forms the address to the new Energycampus to the west and serves as the entrance to the Deusenberg. In addition, as a stepping stone, it connects to the adjoining landscape to the north and the Mooskamp area. Furthermore, the existing landscape structure, extensive recultivation areas and drainage systems must be taken into account.

Accordingly, a number of restrained design elements are proposed to structure and open up the Anger. This includes

  • a loop, which is a circular path that surrounds the area of the village green,
  • Crossings that allow a quick traverse,
  • two additional green hills as viewpoints
  • as well as a number of garden-, play- and sports islands.
