1. PRIZE

The planning area is situated at the southern end of the core city of Göppingen. In this context, the concept for the reorganization of the site undertakes a number of important tasks. These include:

  • the cross-linkage of the railway station with the old town and the neighbouring quarters,
  • the accentuation of the station square as a city entrance,
  • the preservation of important spatial and visual references,
  • the integration of historical traces and buildings and
  • a general openness for changing requirements and wishes in the future.

A concept is proposed which is made up of an urban design

image and an urban design structure. Both determine respective framework conditions in order to secure overall urban development goals. At the same time, however, they remain open for future adjustments. Thus they form an important basis for the upcoming communication and negotiation processes with the urban public as well as with the actors involved.
