The future seaport-district links Cottbus with the emerging East-Sea. As an enclave and a leisure destination, the district should differ in its mood and its spatial qualities from the adjacent urban areas. For this purpose, the urban concept takes up a number of properties of the surrounding landscape. This includes:

  • the interplay of wood clusters and glades,
  • the existing connections between the East-Sea and the adjacent urban fabric
  • the long bow of the lake shore.

The implementation of the individual uses has not yet been definitively determined. For this purpose, three parent elements are proposed.

The large clasp connects all uses, without restricting their individual articulation. As a continuous arcade, it connects all buildings and offers short distances to parking spaces and the bus-stop.

Within the district, buildings with different uses are possible, each of which has its own requirements for structure, lighting and disposition. The concept proposes a sequence of five buildings, each of which can detach itself from the given main directions and orientate individually towards the waterfront.

Between the buildings plazas are inserted as transitional spaces. They each stage a special view of the East-Sea.
